Your Next 5 Moves - By P.P David
The book outlines a strategic framework for making decisions & planning. It was written with business in mind but I am trying to summarize it in a way we can use it personally and also in business.
1. The Assessment
Assess Your Current Situation and Skills:
- Start by evaluating where you are in your life or business journey. Understand your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Identify Your Strengths:
Recognize your unique skills, talents, and advantages that can help you succeed.
Assess your peers & competitors, learn how you differ to them in a way that can provide value to your market.
Recognize Your Weaknesses:
Acknowledge areas where you need improvement or support.
Be clear on what you plan to change to amend your short comings.
Be clear on what it will look, feel and produce when these changes are done.
Move out of your way by forgiving yourself for this weakness & self sabotage
Recognize Your Opportunities:
If the right thing happens that you have been waiting for, what you that be, what would it look like and where would it be happening?
If this opportunity were to happen what would it require from you, what preparation would be needed from you such that when this chance lands in your hands you can fully exploit it?
What could you do now, where you are as who you are to become the best person you dream to become?
Recognize Your Threat:
What behaviours and thoughts do you keep that hold you from reaching the next stage?
What fears do you act out that hinder your smooth transition?
Which group of people do you belong to that you will have to leave for you to move forward?
2. The Vision
Define Your Long-Term Vision and Goals:
- Clearly articulate your long-term aspirations, both personally and professionally.
Set Ambitious Goals:
- Establish specific and challenging goals that align with your vision.
Create a Clear Vision:
- Develop a detailed mental picture of what your life or business will look like when you've achieved your goals.
We solve problems effectively by chopping them down into smaller goals, then making small incremental steps to achieving goals.
3. The Strategy
Develop a Strategic Plan:
- Create a roadmap for achieving your goals. This includes considering various paths and potential obstacles.
Identify Key Milestones:
- Break down your long-term goals into smaller, manageable milestones. The goal of this task is to have milestones that can be measurable over time.
Formulate a Tactical Plan:
Develop specific tactics and actions to reach each milestone.
This would be things you do on a day to day so that each night we are closer to the dream than we were yesterday.
4. The Mind Game
Cultivate Mental Toughness:
Strengthen your mental resilience and ability to handle setbacks.
Spending time in the gym does so much for me in this regard, my work outs do more for my mind than my body.
Embrace Challenges:
- View challenges as opportunities for growth and learning.
Develop Resilience:
- Build the capacity to bounce back from failures and adversity.
5. The Circle
Build a Supportive Network and Team:
- Surround yourself with individuals who can provide guidance, support, and expertise.
Surround Yourself with Key Relationships:
Develop relationships with mentors, advisors, and peers who can help you on your journey.
A support system does so much for us its barely measurable.
Assemble a Winning Team:
In business, put together a team of talented individuals who complement your skills.
Maby even assessing the people you have around you to see where you complement with them and if the relationship is impacting you positively or not.
Personally I wrote this out to create clear steps for my team and also have a record for how I do things moving forward. I have learnt that systems like these have made life easier for me and gave me consistent returns.
I hope this framework will work well for you too and I always hope to get feed back.
